Call for Expressions of Interest - IRSI Indigenous Advisory Committee

Three seats are now available on the IRSI Indigenous Advisory Committee (IAC), and as a result we are seeking expressions of interest from interested parties.

Providing guidance and direction to IRSI's team and leadership, the Advisory Committee plays an important role is steering the direction of Indigenous, community-based research and engagement at UBC. Roles of committee members include guiding IRSI's overall strategic direction and priorities, providing culturally-relevant advice, and offering guidance regarding research and ethics protocols, outreach, and other priorities as they arise. 

Committee membership is comprised of up to 7 community members, up to 2 faculty, 1 staff member and 1 graduate student, with standing seats maintained for each of Musqueam and the Okanagan Nation Alliance. Members serve 2 or 3-year terms, staggered to ensure continuity, and bring to the table an array of relevant expertise, knowledge and perspectives. 


At present, we are seeking Committee members with expertise in the following areas:

  • Indigenous Business & Economic Development

  • Indigenous Community Planning

  • UBC Indigenous Graduate Student (any discipline)

Expressions of Interest will be received until July 1, 2020 (extended from original deadline of June 22), and the seats will remain open until filled.
